Sydney Swing Bite Workshop

A fun and flexible workshop with a little bit or everything. There is such a range of things to learn and everyone has a passion to work on different things. This 'Swing Bite' Workshop is all about choosing one or more passions. Come and enjoy having Scott in town. See the details HERE.



Pick and choose the topics as you go... You don't have to eat the whole cake, just take a few bites.  You simply pay as you go and pick and choose as you go. There is a range of things for both beginner dancers right through to advanced dancers.  Hopefully something for everyone.

1.  Details at a Glance
Dates:  Sat Sept 27th and Sun Sept 28th 2008
Times:  11:00am - 6:00pm (Sat) and 12:00noon-5:00pm (Sun)
Venue:  St. Stephens Hall (189 Church St - off King St)
Costs:  $20 per session (per person) or $60 for the whole day (saving you $40 per day!).  NO pre-payment


2.  Workshop Content
Day One - Saturday September
11:00am-12:00noon: Blues from Scratch with Scott & Jules
From the start.  Making it smooth, cool and sweet. Get ready for the super popular blues nights! No assumed knowledge.

12:00noon-1:00pm: Smooth and Sensual Blues with Jules and Scottie
We’ve taught you the basics and in this class... We turn down the tempo and turn up the heat for some intermediate blues movement.  Watch out – this one is not to be missed!

**Lunch Break 1pm-1.30pm**

1:30pm-2:30pm:  Balboa Basics with Brock & Scottie
Balboa from scratch... No prior experience required, just jump into this fun class.

2:30pm-3:30pm: Balboa – It’s not all basic!... with Brock & Scottie
Balboa is beautiful. Especially if you can get past Stage one! This is the class. With Scott & Trish

3:30pm-4:30pm: Being musical with Scott & Alice
Understanding it better, enjoying it more and applying it to your dancing.  All levels welcome.


Day Two - Sunday September

12:00noon-1:00pm: Cheers for Charleston with Scott & Charmaine
Learn all the fundamental Charleston moves... Side-by-side, Tandem, Hand-Hand and more importantly – how to transition between them.  A crazy fun class designed to get your heart pumping an your feet dancing!

1:00pm-2:00pm: 1920's Charleston with Scott & Charmaine
Get into the craze that swept across the USA during the 1920's... Learn this fun partnered dance style and get bouncing across the dance floor in style!

2:00pm-3:00pm: 8 Beat Lindy Hop from Scratch with Justine and Scottie
All the absolute basics of 8 Beat Lindy Hop - The heart beat of the dance. All from scratch. A great session if you are new or rusty... All levels welcome.  No prior dancing experience required, we'll take care of everything.

3:00pm-4:00pm: Intermediate/Adv Tricks & Dips with Brock and Scottie
Flash. Pizzazz. Some super cool tricks and drips that you can use on the dance floor. Makes it fun...makes you smile.

4:00pm-5:00pm:  Intermediate Aerial with Richa and Scottie
Come learn the 'The Lindy Flip'... A really FUN free-flowing aerial that is easy to achieve and a great way to impress on the dance-floor.  No prior aerials experienced required.  Make sure to bring a partner as we won't be rotating in the class. We will start with an easy "pop" style jump then into the Flip!


3.  Costs & Format
This is a drop-in workshop, which means there is no pre-registration or pre-payment required.  Just turn up on the day and pay as you go (cash only).  The cost of each session is $20 per person or $60 for the whole day of workshops (either Sat or Sun - saving you $40 per day!).  

**NB...  You can't mix and match between Sat and Sun for the 'per day rate' of $60.  This means that If you pay $60 for the Saturday, you can only attend the sessions on Saturday**

The sessions will function as a normal class and you will be required to pay before entering each session.  Please be aware that it will not be possible to watch sessions (unless you are in them), so we kindly ask that you either participate and pay... or go for a walk while you are waiting for your session!


4.  Other Information I Need to Know

a.  What levels are the workshop session?
Unless stated otherwise, the level of all the workshops is OPEN, which means come and learn with the knowledge it may or may not be challenging for you.  Throw yourself in and see how you go!

b.  Do I need a partner to come along?
For all sessions (except the Aerials one)...  You are not required to bring a partner with you.  For the aerial sessions, you will need a dedicated partner as we will not be rotating in the classes.

b.  How much is it for the whole weekend?
If you want to do the whole weekend, the cost is $120 ($60 per day)... This saves you $80 overall!
