We have a new exciting home for the monthly Blues Night upstairs at Bar Broadway.  It's a great venue to grab some great cheap Thai food before class, have a dance, relax in the couches and  try the tempting beverages on offer from the bar downstairs…….what more could you want on a Sunday night?
 
What is blues dancing?
Just like Jazz music, blues dancing is based on improvisation. It is an opportunity to really delve into lead/follow connection. The dance has the same fundamentals as lindy-hop but also has other influences like tango and ‘contact improv’. Blues dancing as been around as long as blues music! The same people who were swing dancing in the 1940’s were also blues dancing at late night duke joints. Today, blues music and dancing has many different styles and can be found anywhere in the world. It’s about finding your own style and interpretation of the music.
 
What to expect?
Blues night is a laid back Sunday night gig where people come to learn, dance, enjoy great music and socialize. Your first lesson will give you the skills to get onto the social dancing floor and have an amazing night straight away! Having different teachers each month helps to create a diverse scene and encourages different styles. The music ranges from rhythm & blues, blues & roots, slow swing, slow jazz, soul and a hint of gospel, trip-hop and more!
 
Class Times:
7.30-8.30pm - Level 1 Blues class (no experience necessary)
8.30-9.30pm - Level 2 Blues class
9.30-11.00pm - Social dancing = $6 (free if you did the class)

Costs:
$14 for any single class (social dancing free)
$21 for 2 classes (social dancing free)
$6 for social dancing only (no classes)
