Francine Jeffery
Francine has always enjoyed jazz music, thanks to her dad, was a member of her high school stage band and was first introduced to dancing in her high school PE classes, learning Rock 'n' Roll, Tango and Ballroom. These fun times instilled a desire to learn some Ballroom and Latin once school was over, but it kinda never happened.
Then one day in June 2000 a friend said 'I'm learning swing dancing, want to come along?'. Well, what could she say!! There's a dance for swing music?? Francine was so excited but so nervous she just watched her first class. And the list of Melbourne swing dancers in that class... with Jade and Scottie teaching, some of the students included Carl Joseph, Sarah Farrelly, Nicole Smith, Jake Meadley, Emily Gassner and many more of the current SP teaching team!
Thereafter Fran enjoyed learning initially at Doncaster from Carl and Claudia, then Silvers, CBD and Swinburne. She has loved every moment of it and her passion has steadily increased over the years, getting more involved, having fun performing at the performance balls and social dancing as often as she can.
She took a trip to Perth for 2 years (thanks to her fiance!) and while there she filled in teaching with Shane at Swing Junction (in Perth) and also assisted Scott and other SP teachers a few years ago at our Melbourne Uni classes.
After dancing for 5 years Fran was finally brave enough to enter some competitions at the 2006 Melbourne Lindy Battle, what a ball!
Her achievements are:
First place: Teams Event 'Cats Corner'
First place: Fast and Furious with Cam Mitchell
Fran is a super person, a first class follow and combined with her school teaching skills, will be a great asset to the Melbourne swing scene. She greatly looks forward to teaching here in Melbourne with Tim and learning along the way.
Her main enjoyment of swing is social dancing, so if you see her on the floor don't hold back, but ask her for a dance! She can be shy too you know.
