Tara Quinlivan
Tara came to swing dancing in a roundabout sort of way. She tried and tried to find something that could excite her enthusiasm for life and keep her fit at the same time. She went through netball, volley ball, horse riding, martial arts and guitar lessons just to name a few! But she couldn’t find anything that combined the cohesive spirit of team sports, with the self control of martial arts and the creativity of music. That is until she found swing dancing!!!
Tara started swing dancing in 2003 when she and a group of friends decided to give it a go for a bit of a laugh. What she found was a community of people who love to have fun, push themselves physically and mentally in their dance ability and always provide an atmosphere of support and joy! From these humble beginnings Tara has become addicted to social dancing and has also enjoyed performing at places like the Melbourne Zoo and competing in Melbourne swing competitions.
Tara’s focus as a Swingpatrol teacher is bringing the fun of dancing to her students. She aspires to help students become skilful in swing dancing, but always through a medium of fun, confidence and excitement. Tara believes that the only way to dance is to do it with a smile!
