By day I am a high-school science teacher, by night (and usually Sunday afternoons at the Unity Hall) I morph into a swing dancer. My friends have told me I should go to swing dancers anonymous. I can’t help it; it is just too much fun and such a release after dealing with those feisty kids all day. You get to meet loads of new people, challenge yourself, dance to great music, get fit, be silly, be serious, it’s ALL GOOD! (And highly addictive).
I grew up in the Blue Mountains, but have lived in Sydney (on and off) for about 6 years. I have tried various forms of dancing in my life time. Tap dancing, hula dancing, dancing on horseback, living room dancing, fire dancing, stilt walker dancing, unicycle dancing, dancing whilst juggling, Japanese salsa dancing…..these are all true! but none of them have hooked me in quite like swing dancing has and I think that anyone can learn it and enjoy the music and the Swing experience as much as I do.
