Lauren Yee
Born and bred Geelong style, Loz ‘pocket rocket’ Yee has just moved to Melbourne and is ready to tackle the Big Smoke! Since learning her first dance routine to Peter Andre’s hit “Funky Junky”, Loz has spent the last 15 years dabbling in jazz, funk, tap and more recently, swing, and has developed a love for performing along the way.
In early 2003, Loz had danced what she calls “high school jazz and funk” for many years and was hankering for something new. Loz discovered the dance change she had been searching for when her twin brother, Kieran, told her about the Swing dancing lessons he had just started attending in Geelong with Nige and Shaz. Nearly six years later, Loz and Kieran are both still dancing, and, having become cadets in the same year, have been sharing their love of swing dancing with students from Geelong and Melbourne for the past three years!
Becoming a member of Swing Patrol’s performance troupes, Brat Pack, in 2004, Scat Pack in October 2005, and the latest professional troupe, Ginger, in 2008, have all been major swing highlights for Loz. However, her proudest swing moments have been watching the dancers of Geelong become a tight knit group of fantastic dancers who continually wow the crowd at each and every Performance Ball.
Loz loves busting a groove on the dance floor, whether it be getting funky to RnB or her beloved ‘Cat Empire’, as well as swingin’ away to the big band beats! Loz also happens to be an Australian Jitterbug “Silly Dance” Champion, so you know if you dance with Loz it’s going to be full of fun, laughter, and silliness.
Bring it on!
